Abu Garcia Zenon CX – Pushing the Limit of Lightweight Design
Abu Garcia has taken its finesse fishing tackle to a new level with the new Zenon CX spinning reels and rods, pushing the limits of lightweight tackle design. Engineered to deliver an ultra-lightweight, high-performance system for anglers looking for maximum sensitivity and minimal weight. The new rods and reels combine advanced materials and innovative manufacturing. The Zenon CX spinning reel is the lightest spinning reel in the world, coming in at only 4.2 ounces for the 2500 and 4.4 ounces for the 3000. It has a one-piece magnesium body, lightweight turbine spool, Forged Compressed Carbon V-Rotor, and a carbon handle arm, all working together to significantly reduce weight. The handle knob is 3D-printed 3VA for enhanced comfort and a streamlined design. Inside the reels, there is a 10+1 stainless steel HPCR bearing platform, AMGearing system, and Carbon Matrix drag that delivers smooth, consistent performance.
Like the spinning reels, the Zenon CX rods were developed to be the lightest rods in the world. The base of the rod system is Abu Garcia’s proprietary ultra-lightweight carbon construction, with the 6’8″ ML rod weighing in at just 1.7 ounces and the 7′ M weighing 2.2 ounces. The rods come with ultra-lightweight Kigan 5G titanium guides with zirconia inserts, a custom 3D-printed reel seat, and 3VA 3D-printed rear grip to reduce weight while maximizing sensitivity and comfort. The rod guide train uses an innovative ROCS engineering to optimize casting distance for lightweight finesse presentations.
