Akkar USA Target Force Series Builds a Clay Gun for Every Discipline
A trap gun and a sporting clays gun have different jobs. One needs to print high on rising, going-away targets, and the other needs to handle quickly on birds crossing, dropping, and quartering from every angle. Most shooters who get serious about clays eventually figure out that one gun can’t do both jobs perfectly. Akkar USA’s answer is the Target Force Series, a family of 12-gauge competition shotguns split into four discipline-specific configurations: the High-Visibility Rib, the Mid-Height Rib, the Trap Combo, and the Single Trap.
For anyone who hasn’t come across the name yet, Akkar was founded in Istanbul in 1985 and has been building shotguns for the global market for four decades. Akkar USA is the company’s fully owned American subsidiary, with its distribution and customer service center in North Kansas City, Missouri. It’s led by CEO David Miller, a competitive shooter himself, which goes a long way toward explaining why a company best known stateside for pumps and field guns came out swinging with a dedicated competition line.

Every Target Force shares a few things in common. All four are 12-gauge with 2¾” chambers sized for target loads, a fully adjustable comb and butt plate, and a .730 bore diameter. That bore figure is worth a second look. Akkar built these close to a true 12-gauge bore, which keeps the wad sealed properly and delivers more consistent velocities downrange. All four are also backed by a 5-year limited warranty.
The Flagship: Target Force High-Vis
The Target Force High-Vis is the do-everything model of the bunch, built for trap, skeet, sporting clays, and FITASC. Its defining feature is a high-profile rib that starts ramping up just 18 cm in front of the shooter’s eye. Getting the rib up off the barrels opens up the view around the gun, so the shooter sees more of the target and less of the shotgun. The rib also tapers from 10mm at the breech to 8mm at the muzzle to keep sight alignment consistent.
- Gauge/Chamber: 12 gauge, 2¾”
- Barrels: 30″ or 32″ over/under, high gloss

- Rib: High-profile, ramps 18 cm ahead of the eye, tapered 10mm to 8mm
- Receiver: High-gloss OxyCap
- Stock: Fully adjustable comb and butt plate
- Controls: Tang safety with barrel selector
- Ejection: Automatic ejectors, convertible to extractors
- Chokes: Seven extended tubes
- Case: Negrini ABS

The OxyCap finish on the receiver deserves some explanation, because it isn’t a coating. Akkar describes it as a proprietary surface-hardening process applied to steel receivers and action parts. The result is improved resistance to abrasion, corrosion, and impact, plus a slick surface that residue has a hard time sticking to. For a gun that sees a few hundred shells in a tournament weekend, easier cleanup is a practical perk.
The automatic ejectors speed things up between pairs, and they can be converted to extract for shooters who would rather pluck their hulls than chase them across the station.
Target Force Mid-Height Rib
The Mid-Height Rib model is the more conventional-looking sibling. It uses the same .730 bore, the same 30″ or 32″ barrel options, and the same tapered 10mm to 8mm rib, just set at a mid height rather than ramped up high. It also gets a two-tone receiver instead of the High-Vis’s high-gloss finish. Like the flagship, it ships with seven extended Mobile-style chokes, ejectors that convert to extractors, a tang safety with barrel selector, and a Negrini case. Pricing matches the High-Vis at $3,099. For shooters who prefer a flatter sight picture, this is the one to look at.

Target Force Trap Combo
Trap shooters get two options, and the Trap Combo is the more involved of the two. It’s a two-barrel set with 30″ over/under barrels for doubles and a 34″ single barrel for singles and handicap. Both barrel sets get adjustable ribs, so the shooter can dial point of impact independently on each. That’s a big deal in trap, where the right amount of rise for 16-yard singles isn’t necessarily the right amount for doubles.
The Trap Combo pairs a two-tone receiver with matte black barrels to cut down on glare. It also uses a lengthened forcing cone, which helps soften felt recoil over long sessions. Seven extended Mobile-style chokes are included, along with the same ejector setup, tang safety and barrel selector, and Negrini case. MSRP is $4,199.
Target Force Single Trap
The Single Trap is the entry point to the series and built strictly for American Trap singles. It runs a 32″ barrel with a mid-height trap rib and uses an extractor rather than ejectors. A matte black receiver, a positive tang safety, and five extended Mobile-style chokes round it out, along with the same fully adjustable comb and butt plate found across the line. At $1,459, it’s the most affordable way into a fully adjustable dedicated trap gun in the lineup.
Where It Lands
All four models are listed on Akkar’s target shotgun page, which also includes the company’s Callahan pump for sporting clays pump events and the Ladies Country over/under.
The pricing is where the Target Force Series makes its case. The over/under models land between roughly $3,000 and $4,200, well below the Beretta and Perazzi price brackets most serious clays shooters get funneled toward, and the Single Trap comes in under $1,500. Every one of them includes a fully adjustable stock, which on a lot of competition guns is either an upcharge or a trip to the stocksmith. For shooters looking to move up from a field gun to something purpose-built for their event without a five-figure price tag, Akkar now has a configuration for nearly every station on the course.
