AllOutdoor Review – Anker Nano Charger

Between travel for TFBTV filming trips, Daily Life, and trying to keep my iPad charged before flying the helicopter, I’m always hunting for chargers that actually pull their weight. Most either take up too much space in my bag, don’t deliver enough power when I need it, or overheat and throttle like crazy. Anker sent me their new Nano Charger 70W 3-port model to test, and after 9 months of real-world use across hotels, airports, and daily life, it’s become a piece of gear I tend not to leave home without.

Anker has not previewed this article prior to publication. I’ve been using this charger heavily for the past 9 months on work trips, at home, and while filming.

Size, Weight & Travel-Friendly Design

What immediately won me over is just how small and light this thing is. At roughly the size of an AirPod case, it slips easily into my sling bag or even a jacket pocket without weighing me down. For someone who lives out of a carry-on or many weeks of the year, this matters a lot. I no longer have to choose between bringing a bulky multi-port charger or sacrificing charging speed.

The real genius in how securely this charger attaches to wall outlets is in the plug design. The frosted, foldable prongs combined with an optimized center of gravity make it sit securely in all kinds of wall outlets even the loose or awkwardly angled ones you find in older hotels or international airports. I think we have all been at the airport and tried to plug in a charger, and the dman thing basically falls out of the outlet. Every time this happens to me, I think to myself, “hotdog down a hallway”. With this Anker Nano I’ve never had it sag or fall out, which is surprisingly rare for compact chargers.

Real-World Performance

On a recent TFBTV filming trip, I had this charger powering my iPad, my iPhone, a spare camera battery, and my wireless microphone all at once. The 70W total output is the sweet spot I’ve been looking for. A single USB-C port can deliver full 70W and this is fast enough to charge a MacBook or give my iPad a serious boost between flights. I especially appreciate the smart thermal management. When the charger starts getting warm under heavy load, it intelligently limits output to keep temperatures safe instead of just shutting down or throttling aggressively. It stays noticeably cooler than many other fast chargers I’ve used, which gives me confidence when plugging in expensive gear.

So if I’m in a hotel room after a long day of filming, charging everything overnight, or grabbing a quick top-up in an airport lounge before a flight, this charger handles the chaos of multiple devices without breaking a sweat.

Things I Don’t Like – Anker Nano Charger 70W 3 Ports

My only real complaint is the price. At around $40, it feels a bit premium for what is essentially a wall charger, even with the excellent build quality and features. That said, it still offers strong value when you consider how much it simplifies my packing and how well it performs day after day.

Yes, $40 stings a little at first, but after living with it through multiple trips, I’ve found it saves me time, space, and frustration, which is worth the investment for someone constantly on the move. This little brick has earned a permanent spot in my travel kit, right next to my camera gear and flight bag.
