Unfortunately, like many people today, I am tethered to my device more and more. This is not something that I’m proud of, but that’s just how things work in 2026 when you are running a personal business and responding to emails all day. I’m also using and aging iPhone 12, and after multiple updates, my battery becomes depleted pretty quickly every day. The short-term solution, because I’m too cheap to buy a new phone, has been to use a small power bank to top off my phone when needed. The first power bank I bought was from Amazon, and while it is small, cheap, and pretty powerful, it gets uncomfortably hot when it charges my phone. Enter the Dark Energy Poseidon Nano Power bank. While being the same size as the Amazon power bank, this one feels like a better investment for the overall health of my phone, and let me tell you why.

Dark Energy – Short History

You will find Dark Energy in Murray, Utah, right in the heart of the Rockies. It is a rugged portable power outfit that Garrett Aida put together back in 2012. Review – Poseidon Nano Power Bank

You can tell the Nano is well made just by handling it. It is compact enough to tuck in your pocket or, if you prefer, clip to a pack with the leather loop. I have no qualms about stowing it in my backpack for a river crossing or some rainy hunting thanks to the IP67 rating; it has put up with everything I have thrown at it and never let me down.

There is certainly a great deal of convenience with this power bank, you can simply snap it onto the back of your phone if it supports MagSafe charging. No cables required, and it holds a nice, secure fit. On a day hike not long ago I left the Nano in my pocket and topped off my phone with MagSafe without even taking it out. For a more substantial charge on a modern smartphone, the 12W USB-C will get you to 50-70% in no time. That is all you need for an emergency or to keep a headlamp or GPS going. And when it is not being used the battery holds its charge admirably, which is important for gear that is sitting in a hunting pack from one trip to the next. It is unobtrusive and light, adding little to the weight of my pack while giving me peace of mind.

What I Like
The build quality is excellent, with nice touches like that leather loop. It is rugged and dustproof to boot. Between the solid fast charging over USB-C and the handy wireless option, it is as portable as they come. This power bank will also not get too hot and will stop charging if it gets too hot, and will not fry your phone battery.

Minor Drawbacks
With only 3,000mAh you are looking at a backup or daily top-up, not a primary source for a multi-day outing. If you are a heavy user on an extended adventure, you would be better off with the bigger Poseidon.

Final Thoughts – Poseidon Nano Power Bank

All in all the Poseidon Nano is a winner. It is one of the finest compact chargers I have put through its paces, what with the wireless charging and the fact that it is truly pocketable. A must-have for the hunter or hiker who wants reliable power without the heft. I would recommend it, and it’s a great gift for your wife or girlfriend who always forgets their phone charger at home while on trips or vacations.
