AllOutdoor Review – Wiley X WX Alpine Men’s Safety Sunglasses
One of the most overlooked pieces of equipment we should be using on a near daily basis for all of our work efforts and outdoor explorations are safety glasses. Whether you are a CDL truck driver, hitting up the gun range, or are going bass fishing, you should be protecting your eyes and vision every step of the way. It’s not a matter of being cool; rather, ensuring we can still see something when we’re in our 70s trying to have adventures with our grandchildren. So, as we barrel into summer, I have been reviewing the new Wiley X WX Alpine (SKU: ACALP02) men’s safety sunglasses to see how they perform out on the gun range, the water, and everywhere in between. Let’s dive in!

Specifications – Wiley X WX Alpine Men’s Safety Sunglasses
The Wiley X WX Alpine (SKU: ACALP02) that we are reviewing here today feature a Matte Black Frame with CAPTIVATE
Grey Lenses at an MSRP of $150. These men’s safety sunglasses have an even contrast for everyday activities, and are best for tactical/duty operations, range use, and outdoor work. The style that I am reviewing is subtle with its matte colors of black and grey, which is exactly what I like. To me, sunglasses are a tool; not a fashion statement (although these do look pretty rad). So, the subdued colorway suits me perfectly.
- Fitment/Head Size: Medium to Large
- Bridge Size: 15mm
- Lens Width: 64mm
- Lens Height: 42mm
- Temple Length: 127mm

If the Wiley X WX Alpines already look appealing to you, Wiley X is offering FREE shipping on orders over $50, which these men’s safety sunglasses would be applicable for. Wiley X also offers hassle-free 30 Day Returns on any of their products as well as a Lifetime Warranty.
- ANSI Z87.1+ Optical clarity and high mass/high velocity impact standards
- MIL-PRF-32432A Ballistic safety standards
- Shatterproof Lenses
If you happen to be someone who uses prescription eyeglasses, you won’t be left out because through a feature on the Wiley X website, you can even order these men’s safety sunglasses with a prescription applied to them. So, these glasses not only protect your vision, but enhance it as well if you have any vision deficiencies.

Standout Features – Wiley X WX Alpine Men’s Safety Sunglasses
For those who might be unfamiliar with Wiley X, these men’s safety sunglasses have somewhat standardized sizing to fit most (not all) hunters, shooters, and outdoor enthusiasts as well as a stylistic flair that they are known for. An attractive aesthetic without being over-the-top or obnoxious. Some of the features that set the WX Alpine apart from other models are listed below as presented by Wiley X:
- Active 8 Series – A 8-base lens profile, high-wrap frames
- Extra Thick 2.5MM Shatterproof Selenite
Polycarbonate Lenses – Unmatched durability and military-grade impact resistance - Optimized Frame Ventilation – Integrated Venturi channels draw air through to minimize fogging

While we are looking specifically at the Wiley X WX Alpine (SKU: ACALP02) today, Wiley X has 5 offerings via their WX Alpine series. Again, for clarity, we are playing with the Wiley X WX Alpine (SKU: ACALP02). All of the offerings are listed below:

As always, in the rare event that you should ever need service for your sunglasses, Wiley X has a Lifetime Warranty that stands behind all of their products. While I have never experienced any issues with the various sunglasses and shooting glasses from Wiley X that I have reviewed over the years, it is nice to know that you have that safety net and support from Wiley X.

A Word from Wiley X on the New WX Alpine Men’s Safety Sunglasses
The WX Alpine isn’t just built for performance, it’s built to take over. Aggressive by design, this frame means business in the harshest conditions. The low-profile polymer frame is lightweight but refuses to break, and semi-hooked temples grip like a clenched fist, locking in when the action kicks up. Rubber nose pads and temple tips keep it glued to your face, whether you’re tearing through terrain or grinding through the mission. And when the heat rises, Venturi Suction technology optimizes airflow to prevent fogging during intense activities like cycling, running, or tactical operations.

What’s the Upsell? What’s the 30-Second Elevator Pitch?
So, what’s the upsell? What’s the metaphorical and literal 30-second elevator pitch? For the WX Alpine, you’re looking at all of the prominent traits that Wiley X has imbued into these sunglasses that might tip the scale in favor of Wiley X as opposed to a competing manufacturer at a similar price-point.
- Protect your eyes – Enjoy worry-free outdoor adventures with 100% UVA/UVB protection, safeguarding your eyes from harmful rays wherever you go.
- All-Day Comfort – Feel the difference of lightweight frames, crafted to stay comfortable during long hours on the job or at play.
- Prescription Ready – Perfectly tailored to you: Our prescription-ready lenses combine style with the clarity you need for every moment.

What’s in the Box?
One of the most common and recurring questions I receive reviewing firearms and their related products is, “what’s in the box?” Meaning, what do you all get with your purchase. This is important because what you do and do not get will dictate what type of accessories you need to additionally buy depending on what you want your end-product to look like. All this being said, this is everything that you will receive:
- Black Zippered Case
- Microfiber Drawstring Bag
- WX Alpine Sunglasses

Field Use – Wiley X WX Alpine Men’s Safety Sunglasses
So, how did the Wiley X WX Alpine Men’s Safety Sunglasses perform out in the field?… I have been using these sunglasses on-and-off for about 6 months now. I received them at this year’s SHOT Show 2026 while talking to Wiley X about their new products. So, they have seen a lot of windshield time for me commuting and driving for work as well as time out in the field.
When I have been out checking cellular trail cameras they have been a great asset. I would transition from shaded areas in the woods to pockets of blinding sunlight pouring through the forest canopy above. These transitions are harsh on your eyes and having the Wiley X WX Alpine sunglasses was clutch.

Gun Range Use
When I was out on the gun range various times this spring and summer, I really appreciated the ballistic rating and impact standards that these sunglasses are held to. You never know when you could have splashback or spalling come towards you when you are shooting at steel targets, and we all know a guy who has been injured or had their vision hurt due to some kind of incident while shooting. So, protecting my eyes while at shooting ranges is paramount.
Also, I liked how well these sunglasses flatly protect your vision from the sun. Many range days I am staring down the tube of a riflescope on scorching hot days. So, the sun plus its reflection off of hot metal materials like a scope or firearm can really exacerbate the effect of the sun on our eyes.

Comfort
In regards to general comfort, I really liked the way that these sunglasses sit on my temple, ears, and nose. The main frames are constructed of a durable polycarbonate yet have small inset areas of rubber that have a more gentle feel when touching your face and skin. While these men’s safety sunglasses have all of the desirable safety attributes that you could possibly want, sometimes the make-or-break tipping point for glasses (and whether or not we’re going to wear them at all) is comfort. So, these win in both areas: safety and comfort.

Final Thoughts
So, what are my final thoughts on the Wiley X WX Alpine Men’s Safety Sunglasses?… Overall, these hit on all of the elements that I would want to see in an everyday use pair of sunglasses. They are comfortable, stylish without being obnoxious, protect against sunlight (pretty basic), and have the ballistic rating I would want since I am a gun owner. With the price of these slated for $150, they are even a bit more affordable than the other WX Alpine options that we mentioned earlier as well. If you’re in need of some sunglasses for this summer, I can confidently recommend these.
In closing, I want to say thank you to Wiley X for allowing AllOutdoor and myself the opportunity to try out their new Wiley X WX Alpine Men’s Safety Sunglasses. That is greatly appreciated. Also, we would like to know what all of you guys and gals think? Do you believe that the Wiley X WX Alpine Men’s Safety Sunglasses is something worth spending your money on? Would you wear them hiking? During a shooting match? Or, out on the town? As always, let us know all of your thoughts in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback and engagement.
