Big Horn Armory CAT 5 Lever Gun in .500 S&W Magnum

Big Horn Armory has introduced the Model 89 CAT 5, a tactical take on its big-bore lever-action platform chambered in .500 S&W Magnum. The CAT 5 blends traditional lever-gun design with more modern features, including a 16-inch threaded barrel and a modular fore-end developed in collaboration with Ranger Point Tactical. The updated configuration incorporates a Picatinny-style scout rail, allowing users to mount optics and accessories more easily than on a traditional lever gun.

Built around a 17-4 stainless steel action, the rifle uses CNC-machined components and a nitride finish aimed at improving durability and corrosion resistance. It has a six-round capacity, a 1:24 twist rate, and an overall length of approximately 36 inches. Weight is listed at 7 pounds, 12 ounces.

The rifle retains several familiar lever-action elements, including a ghost ring rear sight paired with either a white bead or fiber optic front sight. Additional features include a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad and integrated sling swivel mounts.

The CAT 5 is available in multiple finishes, including Matte Stainless, Burnt Bronze, and Hunter Black, along with laminate or webbed stock options. While the platform remains rooted in classic lever-action design, the CAT 5 reflects a continued trend toward modernized, optics-ready configurations in this category.
