Locklear said charges are pending but did not specify who might be charged or what charges investigators are considering. That leaves the most important question open for now. The sheriff’s office has described conduct, a man breaking into a home and getting shot in the process, but it has not announced a charging decision or characterized the shooting as justified.
The Sheriff’s Office called the shooting an isolated incident and said there is no threat to the public. No additional details were being released as of the following day.
