The woods are going to be a lot quieter this hunting season, it seems, with more and more shooters adding suppressors to their rifles. With U.S. federal regulations around suppressors changing, they’re now a very attractive add-on to your deer gun, and the manufacturers are increasingly configuring their firearms so you can easily add a suppressor. The latest manufacturer to do this is CVA, with their new Cascade SR rifle.

The Cascade SR is built with a threaded muzzle, so shooters can easily screw on a suppressor to reduce their rifle’s decibel level. And because a suppressor will add length at the end of your barrel, the Cascade SR has been shortened so you’re not awkwardly banging it off trees and bushes in the woods. As their PR says: “This suppressor ready rifle is built for hunters who need a compact, maneuverable rifle that doesn't sacrifice performance. Whether you're weaving through tight hardwoods, setting up in a blind, or looking for the ideal suppressor host, the Cascade SR delivers.”
There are a couple of things to note here. The first is that this rifle is obviously based off the existing Cascade series, not a ground-up invention of a new rifle. As such, you can find plenty of user feedback on reliability and accuracy, although this is a new model.
The second thing to know here is that even with a suppressor, the Cascade SR might be fairly loud, depending what caliber you pick. It’s available in nine different calibers from .223 to .300 Win Mag. Even with a suppressor, a .300 Win Mag is still going to be just under the line of 140 dB, where you should have hearing protection according to OHSA.
But you knew that already, right?
The stock is finished in Realtree Advantage Black and comes with a removable spacer. The metal is Duracote-finished, and barrel lengths are 16.5 inches, 18 inches or 20 inches, depending what cartridge you want the gun chambered in. The trigger is adjustable from 2 to 4 pounds.
