Daiwa Seaborg 300J – Downscaled Frame with Extreme Performance
Daiwa is here to pull deep-dropping away from its almost heavy machinery roots with the new compact Seaborg 300J electric reel. Moving away from bent butt rods and jumbo reels, the new Seaborg 300J is the smallest electric reel yet, coming in at 20.1 ounces and comfortable in the hand. Letting anglers fish an electric setup comfortably while standing at the rail, so they can feel the bite and be engaged throughout the fight. This all works from the new MAGMAX G motor inside the reel, capable of putting out 113 lbs of momentary winding power and a no-load winding speed of 738 feet per minute. This motor can be controlled by one hand with the Jog Power Lever. This lets anglers of any age, ability, or capability still fight large, powerful fish offshore. Additionally, if you want to just take advantage of the electric function for just checking your rigs and jigs, the reel is still plenty capable with a 6.3:1 gear ratio that brings in 34″ of line each crank.

“The SEABORG 500J ended the era of the gunnel-mounted crank, and the new 300J takes that handheld freedom a step further for both bottom fishing and pelagic species,” said Chris Martin, DAIWA Field Marketing Manager. “By housing an advanced motor in a further downscaled frame, we’ve delivered a technical tool that allows anglers to fish with the rod in hand and fully enjoy the strike, hookset, and fight.”
The 2026 Daiwa Seaborg 300J and 300JL (left-handed model) are available now through Daiwa dealers with an MSRP of $1199.99.
