Duckett Fishing Launches Crappie Slayer Swimbaits and Jighead
Duckett Fishing has carried the Crappie Slayer name on its panfish rods for a while. Now the Guntersville, Alabama company is putting it on baits too, with three new soft plastic swimbaits and a matching jighead built for crappie. The new lineup includes the Baby on Board (BOB), Chubby, and Subtle Tail swimbaits along with the Subtle Head jighead, all listed in Duckett’s Crappie Slayer collection.
The three swimbaits cover the range from finesse to aggressive. The Baby on Board (BOB) is a 2-inch baitfish profile with a dual-color core shot that gives it a two-tone look. Its ultra-thin boot tail produces a tight swimming action meant for pressured fish and clear water.
The Chubby goes the other way. It’s shorter at 1.75 inches, but its wide, ribbed body pushes more water, and an oversized boot tail adds an aggressive kick and roll. It’s a good match for crappie keyed in on small forage that still want something with some thump.
The Subtle Tail sits in between with a slim baitfish profile and a restrained paddle tail. Duckett molds it from ultra-soft PVC so the tail keeps moving even on the slowest retrieve, which is usually what it takes for cold-water or heavily pressured crappie.
Tying it together is the Subtle Head, a bullet-style jighead designed to keep a soft plastic at depth on a steady retrieve. A screwlock keeper holds the bait in place, and a realistic eye finishes the baitfish look.
- Baby on Board (BOB): 2″, dual-color core, thin boot tail, 8 colors, 8 per pack
- Chubby: 1.75″, wide ribbed body, oversized boot tail, 8 colors, 12 per pack
- Subtle Tail: Slim profile, ultra-soft PVC paddle tail, 8 colors, 12 per pack
- Subtle Head: Bullet head, screwlock keeper, #2 hook, 1/24, 1/16, 3/32, and 1/8 oz, 5 per pack
- MSRP: $5.99 per pack
Every pack runs $5.99, whether it’s eight BOBs, a dozen Chubbys or Subtle Tails, or five jigheads. That’s right in line with what crappie anglers expect to spend on plastics they’re going to lose in brush piles.
The real takeaway is the system. Each bait gives a different action on the same small baitfish theme, so anglers can match water color, temperature, or season without leaving the brand. Paired with the Subtle Head, Duckett now has a complete crappie swimbait setup on the shelf, and the timing lines up with the company’s updated Crappie Slayer rod.
