Federal Ammunition sponsored shooter Cameron Hicks won the FITASC event at the 2026 Seminole Cup, one of the premier sporting clays competitions in the country. The event ran February 24 through March 1 at Broadfield, a Sea Island Sporting Club and Lodge in Georgia, drawing over 600 shooters.
Hicks actually won two events: the EZGO Shootout Qualifier and the FITASC competition, where he beat out a field of 205 shooters. The FITASC win carried some personal weight. His father won the same event back in 2003, and Hicks has come close several times without getting there.
It came down to the wire, too. Hicks had to shoot a clean final parcour, the hardest one on the course, just to force a shoot-off. Then he won it.
"I had to be perfect in the last and hardest parcour to get into a shoot off and then won it," Hicks said. "Achieving this same victory brings a great sense of pride to have this father and son connection."
The Ammo
For anyone curious about what he was running: Hicks used Federal's Master Class in 12-gauge, 1-ounce loads at 1300 fps with 7.5 shot. Master Class is a relatively new competition-level sporting clays load that Federal introduced at the SHOT Show 2026. It uses a Podium wad, straight-wall hull, high-antimony lead shot, and select propellant.
This is the second notable win using the Master Class line. Hicks also took the 2025 Main Event High Over All at the Gamaliel Cup with the same ammo.
For those unfamiliar with FITASC (pronounced "fee-task"), it's the international version of sporting clays and is widely considered one of the most demanding shotgun disciplines. Shooters must start with the gun in a low position until the target is visible, factory ammo is required, and 12-gauge loads are capped at 1 ounce. The targets tend to be longer and more varied than standard sporting clays presentations. Winning it against 205 shooters at a venue like Broadfield is no small feat.
