Just In Time For Bird Season – New Derya EX1300

By Zac K. •

Hunting season is about to hit North America in full force, with most jurisdictions’ deer and bird seasons opening up in coming weeks (and in some places, limited early seasons are already running). For those hunters looking for a new shotgun this year, one that won’t run afoul of authorities or regulations, the Derya EX1300 offers over-under simplicity at a price you can afford.

Derya EX1300

Derya is a Turkish manufacturer, in business about 30 years, that mostly sells tactical rifles, shotguns and pistols, but occasionally breaks out into other stuff like the EX1300, a traditionally-styled shotgun for hunters. Dustin Jones, their American VP, said:

The EX1300 is the other side of what we build: a walnut-and-steel over/under with ejectors and a full choke set, in the three gauges hunters and clays shooters actually ask for, all at one price. Pick your gauge, not your budget.

Indeed, you do get three solid choices with the EX1300. It comes in 12 gauge, 20 gauge or .410, and all three are priced at an affordable $699. Both the 12 gauge and .410 model have 28 inch barrels, while the 20 gauge model has a 26 inch barrel. All models have a nickel-plated steel receiver and black-chromed barrels, to resist corrosion. A tang-mounted safety is standard, of course, with a selective single trigger for both barrels. The EX1300 has auto-ejectors, and all versions of the shotgun are chambered for 3-inch shells.

According to Derya, all versions of the gun weigh 6.64 pounds. The 12 gauge and .410 models are 45 inches long, while the shorter 20 gauge model is only 43 inches long. Full specs are available at Derya’s North American website here.

Would you want one? Turkish shotguns are still working on making their name in North America, despite being sold here for years, often under better-known brands like Winchester, CZ or Mossberg. The price will certainly attract buyers, as a walnut-and-steel double for under $700 is a rarity in 2026.
