New Berkley SlapGill – Topwater Panfish Mimic

Focusing on making another ultra-realistic lure, Berkley Fishing has brought out the new SlapGill topwater bait. This bait combines biological accuracy in color & profile with a panfish’s natural distress signals. This action is produced by precisely placed weights inside the lure to make the SlapGill’s side-to-side flop. So while walking the bait, it creates a signature surface “slap”.  This topwater has been designed to be fished around structure and cover, worked slowly nearby where big bass may be waiting on a meal.

“The SlapGill brings realism and action together to perfectly mimic a distressed panfish,” said Nathan Ragsdale, Senior Product Manager, Freshwater Baits at Berkley. “From the lifelike profile and detailed finishes to the unique surface action, every part of this bait was designed to imitate a struggling panfish. It can be especially effective during the spawning season, whether drawing a reaction from bass guarding a bed or targeting fish positioned around concentrations of spawning panfish. That signature ‘slap’ gives anglers a presentation bass don’t see every day and another topwater option when targeting fish around shallow cover.”

The Berkley SlapGill is available now in two sizes (80, 95) and in seven highly-detailed panfish-inspired patterns (Phantom Gill • White Gill • Crappie • Female Gill • Top Gill • Chrome Shad • Midnight Hammer). Each bait comes equipped with sticky-sharp Fusion19 treble hooks and has an MSRP of $16.99
