CZ isn't reinventing the wheel with the 612 TAC, and that's probably the point. You already know the 612 platform, so here's what's new: a 6+1 extended tube, an 18-inch chrome-lined barrel with a tactical brake, a telescopic stock, and ghost ring sights baked in. The company also added a vertical pistol grip and receiver-mounted Picatinny rail, plus a 3-position LOP adjustment on the stock. Oh, and the stock folds, except the hinge is not visible in any of the product images provided.
New CZ 612 TAC Shotgun
Magazine capacity has bumped from 4+1 over the other two existing 512 models, and the barrel loses two inches compared to the 20-inch hunting barrel. It all looks like a Benelli M4, and that’s probably not a coincidence due to its characteristic visuals.
The folding telescopic stock with adjustable cheek rest addresses something many tactical shotguns ignore. A high cheek weld matters when you're behind the sights and need to align your eyes. The recoil of a shotgun isn’t very forgiving, even with a compensator. CZ spec'd a 3-position LOP adjustment to be able to fit different body types and possibly users wearing plate carriers.
There’s a Picatinny rail for your reflex sights, and it’s possible to co-witness with the integrated ghost rings. For home defense or training, that flexibility is nice to have built-in and I would guess that is how most owners would run it.
The 612 TAC seems to land in the gap between a basic home defense gun and a purpose-built competition or professional shotgun. I’ve been trying to find where it’s manufactured, but I would presume the Republic of Türkiye. I could not find any hint of what kind of pricing it comes with either.
