New DT-S Storage Stock From Magpul Holds Spare Batteries
A lot of hunters use the now almost retro AR-15 or AR-10 with an optic or light that depends on CR123 or AA batteries. The spares usually end up loose in a pack or a truck console. Magpul’s new DT-S Carbine Stock gives them a spot on the rifle. The stock has two parallel storage tubes sealed with dual O-rings, which Magpul rates as waterproof to 10 meters. Each tube holds up to two CR123 or AA cells, so there is room for four spares total. The DT-S uses the same Dual Tension locking system as Magpul’s DT Carbine Stock and fits Mil-Spec carbine buffer tubes. Here is the announcement from Magpul.

For anyone who covers a lot of ground on foot, Magpul lists the DT-S at 15.0 ounces, or about 18.8 ounces with a receiver extension. The standard DT weighs 9.8 ounces. The DT-S also has an enlarged cheek weld area that, according to Magpul, “enhances contact and stability while improving shooter comfort.” Length of pull adjusts from about 11 to 14.3 inches on an M4-length tube. That range lets you shorten the stock for a heavy late-season jacket and lengthen it again for lighter early-season layers. Sling options include an ambidextrous anti-rotation QD socket and a 1.25-inch footman’s loop. MSRP is $94.95 in Black, Flat Dark Earth and Olive Drab Green, with Modified Coyote Brown coming soon.
Magpul® Releases DT-S Carbine Stock
(Austin, TX) – Magpul released its newest AR15 adjustable carbine stock, the DT-S. Using the same Dual Tension technology of the DT Carbine Stock, the DT-S adds two storage tubes sealed by dual O-rings and waterproof to a depth of 10 meters.
The Dual Tension mechanism securely locks the stock into place and eliminates the need for a second locking lever. Even with the extra security of the DT mechanism, the stock remains easy to adjust via the ambidextrous adjustment latch.
The parallel storage tubes each accept up to two batteries commonly used for optics and accessories, and deliver a wide, sloping cheek weld to increase shooter comfort and stability.
The DT-S offers a no-slip rubber butt-pad with an angled toe for good recoil absorption and enables fast shoulder mount and dismount.
The stock provides an ambidextrous anti-rotation QD socket and footman’s loop for sling mounting versatility.
