Light and dark collide on the new SIG Sauer P365-AXG EQUINOX. The slide carries the Equinox polished treatment, a finish where bright polished flats meet the dark Nitron surfaces around them, and the contrast continues down to the E-Nickel trigger and controls set against a black AXG grip module. This is a Custom Works pistol, and the company describes it as the next evolution of one of its most iconic Custom Works designs.
The Equinox slide carries a two-port integrated expansion chamber, which helps reduce muzzle rise for a flatter shooting experience while keeping the compact dimensions that made the P365 the benchmark for everyday carry.
The slide is optic-ready on the SIG-LOC footprint, so an optic can be fitted without disturbing the pistol's clean profile, and the slide also carries the COMPACT Shield RMSc pattern.
The grip is where the AXG part earns its name. A black AXG alloy grip module with custom black G10 panels gives the P365 the weight and feel of a metal-frame pistol, which changes how the gun handles in recoil compared with a polymer module.
Controls and a matching flat trigger come in E-Nickel, a deliberate contrast against the Nitron and Equinox finish, and the frame itself is alloy with a stainless finish. A 1913 Picatinny rail sits under the dust cover.
The hardware is straightforward P365. The pistol is chambered in 9mm with a 3.1 inch (79 mm) carbon steel barrel, which is not threaded, and a sight radius of 4.6 inches (117 mm). XRAY3 Day/Night sights are fitted front and rear.
Equinox is not a new idea at SIG Sauer. TFB has looked at several versions before, like the P211 GTO Equinox Combat and, further back, the Custom Works 1911 Equinox. The P365-AXG EQUINOX brings the same light-and-dark treatment to the smallest pistol in the lineup. The look reminds me of JP Rifles, and their “presentation grade finish”, and it’s not a bad one.
The look changes depending on the ambient light.

Does a polished Equinox finish belong on a compensated carry pistol, or is this a safe queen look? If I had one, I’d carry it.
