It keeps the action simple, the ammunition selection limitless across standard, PRC, and Magnum calibers, and the manufacturing cost lower than the Ultima Ratio while maintaining the core DNA. For gong shooters, F-Class competitors, Benchrest, and long-range recreation up to 1,600 yards, that tradeoff makes perfect sense.
The rapid barrel interchangeability system is the centerpiece. PGM ships four barrel profiles across caliber options: Intervention models with heatsink profiles, Commando variants that are fluted and lightweight, a Subsonic with integral suppression, and Custom barrels for heavy-duty sport shooting. All swap in thirty seconds. That flexibility means one action, multiple disciplines, multiple ranges, multiple conditions. Buy one rifle, own a battery of platforms. Take your time with reloads, use your time at the range as a kind of Yoga session.
In detail, the new chassis brings tangible improvements. Integrated Arca-Swiss rail runs the full length of the handguard, replacing traditional attachment points with true modularity. The bipod slides anywhere along that rail, the rifle mounts to a tripod without hardware kits, and small accessories park on a 7-slot M-LOK interface underneath. That's not just ergonomic, it's highly practical for both competition and field use.
The fixed buttstock sidesteps the adjustable craze with purpose. The cheek rest is height-adjustable, the pad height adjusts independently, and the comb itself is easily removed to expose a 5mm hex key integrated into the stock. No loose tools, no lost parts. The stock even carries a built-in bolt tool for decocking and assembly work. It's the kind of thoughtful design that only matters once you're in the field and realize you didn't bring a tool kit.
The match-grade double-stage trigger delivers the precision expectation from a rifle at this tier. Ambidextrous safety. Clean, smooth action. Nothing flashy, everything functional.
Barrel availability spans the full range of modern sport shooting demands. The 338 Lapua Magnum Intervention barrels reach 7.6 kg fully assembled. The Custom profile in 6.5-284 Norma or 6mm Creedmoor runs heavier still for Benchrest and competition disciplines. Weights range from 5.5 kg with the lightweight Commando profile up to 7.8 kg with the heavy magnums, all still reasonable for carry, setup, and competition work.
Barrels come in multiple lengths, 16 inches on the subsonic up to 28 inches on the heavy competition models. All Ultima Ratio barrels cross over to the Ludis. The Ludis PRC and Magnum barrels do not work backward on Ultima platforms, which preserves the hierarchy and keeps both lines distinct.
Build quality is made-in-France, Haute-Savoie, hand-assembled and CNC-crafted to PGM Précision's standard. Aeronautical-grade aluminum for chassis and receiver. Precise, durable, light enough to carry, solid enough to compete at the highest amateur levels and then some.
