Today’s Photo of the Day highlights a rare, matched-number commemorative set from Smith & Wesson that pairs the Model 1854 lever-action rifle with the Model 29 revolver, both chambered in .44 Magnum. Limited to just 100 sets, this example is number 059 and stands out with engraving accented by 22-karat gold inlay, completed by Baron Engraving.
Each firearm carries a gloss black PVD finish and high-grade walnut furniture, underscoring the emphasis on craftsmanship.
The set arrives in a display case and includes a certificate of authenticity signed by Smith & Wesson President and CEO Mark Smith.
The images here are from an online auction that ran in December, 2025, and the pair represented one of the last unsold sets. Previous examples have reached prices over $50,000, but unfortunately, we don’t know how much this set went for. Left for us is to admire the nice images.
Any proceeds supported the Outdoor Stewards of Conservation Foundation, a nonprofit focused on advancing wildlife conservation and promoting the role of hunters, anglers, trappers, and shooters in funding and sustaining those efforts.
