Retay Wants To Give You A Shotgun, Ammo And A Hunting Dog

This has to be one of the more unusual giveaways that I’ve seen over my career covering the outdoors world. Retay is running a Dog Days Of Summer giveaway that has a lot of very useful loot for the lucky winner—a shotgun, a supply of ammo, and a hunting dog. Yeah, you read that right. No more going over your rubber boots to retrieve your shot-down birds; you can win a hunting dog to take care of that!

Here’s the exact wording of Retay’s PR for its giveaway:

As hunters and waterfowlers begin their preparations for fall, RETAY has curated an impressive prize package along with great gear including a black lab puppy from Southern Pine Kennels out of Georgia.

RETAY have partnered with leading brands in the outdoor industry to assemble a premium collection of gear. The giveaway package includes dog training gear from Avery Sporting Dog, a dog kennel from Lucky Duck, one case of 20-gauge ammo from MIGRA, one years’ worth of dog food from Sportsman’s Pride and a RETAY ACE R 20 gauge.

Note that the dog even has basic obedience training. Now if you know anything at all about hunting dogs, you know that you probably aren’t going to get this pup trained up in time for actual field use during the 2026 hunting season, but at least you can get a head start on training it for 2027!

And just to remind you, you also win a 20-gauge shotgun in this giveaway, and it’s a fairly decent model from Retay’s lineup, too. The Retay Ace R comes with a lengthened forcing cone that’s supposed to significantly improve your pattern (20 percent more pellets on target, claims Retay!).
