Savage Gear Soft Shine Glide Grows Up to 9 Inches
Big bass eat big baits, and Savage Gear is giving glide bait anglers a bigger option to prove it. The 3D Line Thru Soft Shine Glide now comes in a 9-inch size, stepping up from the original 7-inch model with more length, more weight, and more momentum in the water.
Like the 7-inch version, the new bait is built from a 3D scan of a real shiner. The soft body is jointed so it can be swum straight, chopped tight, or worked into a wide glide, and on the pause it tends to wander off to one side like a hurt baitfish. The extra size and weight are the whole point of this release. A heavier bait carries more momentum through each glide, which gives the angler more range in how they work it.

“The added size and weight create more momentum that anglers can use to glide, chop or swim the bait, while still maintaining the realistic profile and action that make the Soft Shine Glide unique,” said Jared Kutil, Savage Gear Product Manager.

The line-thru system is the practical feature worth knowing about. Once a fish is hooked, the bait slides free from the hooks so the fish can’t use the soft body as leverage to throw the treble, and the bait itself doesn’t get torn up during the fight. The removable tail weight and the thick soft plastic around the joint and tail also leave room for weight inserts, so anglers can tune fall rate, retrieve speed, and depth.
For comparison, the 7-inch model runs $29.99 to $34.99, so the bigger bait carries a modest bump in price for a lot more profile. It ships in Savage Gear’s ventilated clam pack, which lets the bait dry out between trips instead of sweating in a bag.

Eight colors are offered: Golden Shiner, Hitch, Gizzard, Purple Gizzard, Threadfin, Chartreuse Shad, Bone, and Bluegill. The 9-inch model is available now, and while Savage Gear built it with trophy bass in mind, a bait this size will draw plenty of attention from pike and musky too.
