I have been waiting for this one, as have many, for quite some time, and it's finally here! When Magpul launched the DT Carbine Stock in late 2023, the main selling point was an internal Dual Tension mechanism that adds friction against the buffer tube without a second locking lever. The new DT-S Carbine Stock keeps that system and builds a wider body around it with two parallel storage tubes. Each tube is sealed with dual O-rings, rated waterproof to 10 meters, and holds up to two CR123 or AA batteries (or whatever else you can stuff in there). Magpul also enlarged the cheek weld area for improved contact. The DT-S fits Mil-Spec carbine receiver extensions only and is listed for both AR-15/M4 and AR-10/SR-25/M110 platforms. MSRP is $94.95. I already have one on the way for review, so in the meantime, here is the official word from Magpul.
More from Magpul at TFB:
The DT-S weighs 15.0 ounces, compared with 9.8 ounces for the standard DT. Its maximum width grows from 1.6 inches to 2.5 inches. Length of pull remains the same at 3.3 inches on both stocks, but the DT-S starts and ends about half an inch longer, at roughly 11 to 14.3 inches on a standard M4 tube. The optional MOE SL Enhanced Rubber Butt-Pad would add another 0.70 inches. Official Magpul pricing is currently starting at $94.95, meaning the DT-S costs $25 more than the DT and matches the price of the MOE SL-S. Black, Flat Dark Earth, and Olive Drab Green are available now, with Modified Coyote Brown coming soon. Of course, keep an eye out for my thoughts when I get some rounds downrange with the new stock.
