SK Customs Recreates Al Capone’s “Sweetheart” Colt 1911
SK Customs is remaking Al Capone’s personal Sweetheart Colt 1911, and they are only building 200 of them. Pre-orders are open now at $2,700 with shipping starting July 2026. That price is the pre-launch rate, so it will go up before they ship.

The original Sweetheart Colt 1911 is one of the more romanticized firearms tied to the Prohibition era. The nickname is widely believed to reference Mae Capone, Al’s wife, which adds an unexpected layer to the story of a man better known for ruthlessness than sentiment. That combination of personal symbolism and organized crime mystique is exactly what makes this piece worth paying attention to.

The recreation is built on a Government Model 1911 in .45 ACP, and SK put real work into matching the original:
- Detailed floral scroll engraving on both sides of the slide matching the original Sweetheart
- Traditional Colt Manufacturing patent roll marks on the left slide
- “Colt Automatic Calibre .45” with Rampart roll marks on the right slide
- Government Model marking on the frame
- Custom sights matching Capone’s original, adjustable rear with partridge front serrated staked sight
- Checkered front strap and 25LPI checkered mainspring housing
- Frame, slide, and hardware fully polished and blued
- Genuine vintage red deer stag grips, each unique with similar bark character
- Series number 001 through 200 on the rear panel

The 25LPI checkered mainspring housing is a detail worth noting because it puts this in shooter territory, not just shelf queen territory. The stag grips are equally worth calling out. Vintage red deer stag is not uniform material, so no two of the 200 will look identical. Pre-orders are open now at $2,700 with shipping from July 2026.

Is a historically inspired limited run like this something you would actually shoot, or does it go straight into the safe? Let us know in the comments below. We always appreciate the feedback.
