Springfield Armory Rolls Out the SA-35 4″ in Polished Blued
Springfield Armory is adding one more SA-35 to the 2026 lineup, and anyone who has been following the line this year could probably see it coming. The new SA-35 4″ 9mm Polished Blued takes the shortened slide from the matte 4″ model and pairs it with the deep polished finish that debuted on the full-size gun back in January. Same forged steel, same walnut, a lot more shine.

For anyone keeping score, the original SA-35 landed in October 2021 at $699 as Springfield’s updated take on John Moses Browning’s P-35 (we spent plenty of time with one in our original SA-35 review). In January of this year, Springfield released a polished blued version of the standard 4.7″ pistol, which gets a specialized polishing step before its hot salt bluing. Then in April came the matte blued SA-35 4″, which Springfield’s VP of Marketing, Steve Kramer, called a “smaller and faster-handling version” of the original. Putting the two together was the logical next step.

Springfield says the new model captures “the appeal of the ‘wood and steel’ era of arms making, now complemented by a classic polished blued finish.” The 4″ cold hammer forged barrel keeps the SA-35’s improved feed ramp, which the company says lets it “function reliably with modern defensive ammunition.”
- Model: SA-35 4″ 9mm Polished Blued (HP9205)
- Caliber: 9mm
- Barrel: 4″ cold hammer forged, 1:10 twist
- Slide & Frame: Forged carbon steel, polished blued
- Sights: White dot front, serrated tactical rack rear
- Recoil System: SA-35 recoil spring & guide rod
- Grips: Checkered walnut
- Magazines: (1) 15-round
- Weight: 29.8 oz
- Length / Height: 7.1″ / 4.8″
- MSRP: $799
Mechanically, nothing changes from the matte 4″. The frame stays full size, so you keep the full grip and 15-round capacity while trimming 0.7″ of barrel off the front end. Pricing holds steady too, with the $799 MSRP matching both the matte 4″ and the full-size polished model. Each pistol ships with a single magazine and Springfield’s double-zipper soft case, which has an interior pouch for a spare mag.

If you want to see how that polish looks in person (and how the gun runs), we covered the full-size version in our SA-35 Polished Blued review this summer. AND a review by yours truly will be landing not long after this goes live, so keep your eyes peeled. Springfield hasn’t announced a ship date yet, but the polished SA-35 4″ spec sheet is already posted with everything listed above, and if the previous iterations are anything to go off of, I would expect to start seeing them available almost right away.

So does the high polish belong on the shorter slide, or is matte the better match for a 4″ Hi-Power? Let us know in the comments below. We always appreciate the feedback.
