The Colt BOA Returns After 40 Years Through CNC Firearms
The Colt BOA is back. Custom and Collectable Firearms has been working with Colt for three years to bring it back, and the official announcement is coming out of the 2026 NRA Annual Meetings in Houston. The last time a BOA was produced was 1985, and this is not a clone or a tribute piece. Every revolver in this run is a 100% factory Colt firearm.

The BOA has always been the rarest of the Colt snake guns. The original 1985 run was limited enough that most collectors have only ever seen one in photos. It sits above the Python, the Cobra, the Diamondback, and the rest in terms of scarcity, which is exactly what has driven the demand for a return for decades. CNC Firearms is keeping that exclusivity intact. This is not a mass production run, which means the long-term collectability stays intact for buyers who care about that, and given what original BOAs trade for, that is a meaningful consideration.

Both variants are chambered in .357 Magnum with a 6-round double and single action configuration, Santos rosewood grips with a gold Colt pony medallion, brass bead front sight, and a blued finish. The blued finish is the right call for a collector piece of this nature. Each ships in a special edition custom Colt box designed specifically for this release, which adds to the presentation for anyone buying this as a long-term hold.
