SIG Sauer is putting a factory-installed optic on the P226 platform in two sizes. The P226X ROMEO-X SIG-LOC PRO is the full-size model, and the P226-XCARRY ROMEO-X SIG-LOC PRO is the shorter carry version. Both models are new and sit under the tagline "The P226. Evolved."
The P226 Evolved: SIG Sauer's Full-Size and Carry P226X
The idea is to pair premium XSERIES performance with the ROMEO-X enclosed optic. The optic uses the SIG-LOC mounting interface, which attaches it directly to the slide from underneath.
SIG Sauer lists exceptional retention, an ultra-low deck height and a co-witness with the standard-height XRAY3 Day/Night sights as the results. The optical system is fully enclosed, sealed and gas-purged, and it is assembled in the USA for dependable performance in demanding conditions.
The rest of the package is shared between the two pistols. Each has an AX2 adjustable DA/SA trigger, a precision bull barrel with a target crown, Hogue G10 grip panels, a low-profile decocker and refined XSERIES ergonomics. The slide is stainless steel in Matte Black DLC over a black anodized alloy frame, with an M1913 accessory rail. Both are chambered in 9mm Luger and ship with three steel magazines, in either 18-round or 10-round configurations.
The difference is size. The P226X ROMEO-X carries a full-size XSeries slide with a 4.4-inch bull barrel, which gives a 6-inch sight radius, an overall length of 8.0 inches and a weight of 35.1 ounces with a magazine. The P226-XCARRY ROMEO-X uses a carry-length XSERIES slide with a 3.8-inch bull barrel, which brings the sight radius to 5.6 inches, the overall length to 7.25 inches and the weight to 33.1 ounces with a magazine. Height is 5.85 inches and width is 1.44 inches on both.
