A highly violent armed carjacking attempt in Berkeley County, South Carolina, concluded with a ruling of justifiable homicide after a gunshot victim successfully used a knife to kill his attacker. The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) and the Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office confirmed that the unnamed victim acted entirely in self-defense when he stabbed 21-year-old Harry Phillips in the chest after Phillips shot him multiple times, chased him into a wooded area, and ran out of ammunition.
