Smith & Wesson Model 642 America 250 Limited Edition
First up, we have the Smith & Wesson Model 642 America 250 Limited Edition snub-nose revolver with an MSRP of $579. This lil’ guy commemorates America's 250th anniversary of freedom in Smith & Wesson’s iconic J-Frame platform. Like most all Model 642 variants, it is chambered in .38 Special +P, has a 1.875” stainless steel barrel, and a 5-round capacity. The “42” portion of its name tells us that it has an enclosed hammer with a double-action-only (DAO) trigger to create a smooth, snag-free profile for fast, consistent draws.
Some of the more patriotic embellishments are the USA 250 laser-engraved side plate, an enhanced blue synthetic boot grip, and a distinctive red thumb piece (cylinder release), which gives the wheelgun its collectible appeal.

Final Thoughts
It is a rather cool thing to see how the firearm industry is so strongly participating in celebrating the 250th anniversary of our country, and all things red, white, and blue. These new revolver variants that Smith & Wesson has announced are staples within their wheelgun portfolio. So, we already know that they are reliable, accurate, and would serve anyone long into the future who wants to add one to their collection. Now, we’ll just have to wait and see if they go bigger or smaller - add a .22 Long Rifle or .44 Magnum option into the mix. I’d personally like to see a big boy join the party.
